Lets start with the stats shall we:
Age: 34
Height: 176cm (5’10″)
Weight: 95kg (209lbs)
Fitness level: Disgraceful.
Wives: 1
Daughters: 2
It occurred to me the other day, that I had hit 34½ years. I’ve been overweight since I was about 11 or 12, thanks to a poor diet as a child and a belief that coke, ice cream and biscuits were the only three food groups. Add to that some emotional eating – I eat when I’m sad, when I’m bored and when I’m stressed. And I was a sad, lonely child. And lazy, but I think that has a lot to do with always being told how useless I was, so I never tried, never exercised, and just sat around by myself getting bored and fat.
Anyway, I’m happily married now with two beautiful daughters (almost 3½, and 1½) and I’ve managed to exorcise most of the demons of my unhappy childhood. Except one – the overhanging gut and manboobs – I guess that’s two. So, with a decent bike sitting in the shed, I’ve taken control.
Now I’m not one for keeping a (traditional) diary, so I’ve gone for a blog instead. This is it (you’re reading it now).
I can track my progress, goals, rewards and awards (I got my first the other day).
I’ll share my thoughts, successes, failures and my downright disappointments.

And away we go…

Hi,
As a fellow blogger in the cycling community, I wanted to contact you and let you know that once per month (starting March 1) we will be blogging about different cycling memories and great cycling stories. Memories and stories about your first time on the bike or the reason why you love cycling so much. We’d love to hear from you and learn of your experiences and memories so that we can highlight them in one of the “Who’s Loving the Bike This Month?” blogs. As cycling enthusiasts, we honestly would just love to hear about it. As a blogger in your community, we’d love the opportunity to link back and promote your site via your memories.
If you’re interested, please e-mail us a paragraph including your memory or story….or send us a video with you talking about your memories just like Rhett did (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dk40A-3gmU0). If you chose to do the video, just send us the coding information from youtube or whichever hosting location you placed it.
Keep the blogs coming.
Darryl
