1. Reach and maintain a body weight of 80kgs. If I achieve only this goal, I’ll be a happy man.
2. Finish 1 Olympic length triathlon (1.5km swim, 40km ride, 10km run). I’d rather it was an organised triathlon but if needs be, I’ll do one by myself. Not going to happen, but will be lining up for a sprint triathlon (750m/20k/5k) instead.
3. Run C2S and better time by at least 6 minutes. Last year I ran 81minutes with a disrupted preparation, and I’m planning on doing better this year. Ideally, I’d like to do a sub 70minute time, but I’ll happily take sub 75. Success! 70m 11s
4. Attempt a marathon in 2011. I suspect this will end up being towards the end of spring, but hopefully by then I’ll be ready for a genuine crack at it. Attempted, but sadly failed – dismally
5. Complete a HM in under two hours. My first half marathon last year was run in 2:01, so with some good training I should be able to better this. (completed 15 July 2011 – 1:59:14).
6. Complete 200km ride. I’d like to tie this in with the Canola Canter (see below)
7. Complete at least three of the following:
- Audax Alpine Classic (140km) Jan DNF
- Marysville Ride (160km) Feb NOT ATTEMPTED
- Amy’s Ride Canberra (105km) Mar COMPLETED
- 100 Miles to Nowhere (160km) June DNS
- Around the Bay in a Day (200km) Oct DNS
- Canola Canter (200km) Oct 150km Canter completed 9 Oct
- Fitz’s Classic (165km) Oct 30
- Mt Macedon Challenge (130km) Nov
8. One I pinched from ajh. Complete the virtual TdF – that’s ride the same kms as the 2010 TdF before the 2011 TdF finishes. Scheduled end date for the 2011 TdF is July 24.

BTW, I’m seriously considering the “m” word again. Maybe we could do Melb Mara together!
The Sydney marathon is my first goal, the Melbourne one is my fall back. But if you’re interested in travelling to Sydney, then for sure!
